I need $500!
Ok, really? Does anyone not agree with that sentence? Could you not use a toasty $500 in your pocket at any given point in time? I’m already thinking of the school supplies and back-to-school swag I could purchase with that cash.
5 Minutes for Mom is running a Summer Fun Photo Contest with a $500 prize and I’m hunting through all the pictures I have of my kids…which YIKES! rolls into the tens of thousands I think…and pick the one that best exemplifies summer in our house.
I’m going to post a few here and if you could let me know which one you think is the best, that would be great and then I’ll submit it.
I trust you all, you’d never steer me wrong.

Just one??? Are you kidding! Your kids are beautiful and so photogenic! And by the way, do you ever take a bad picture? If I had to pick one, I’d go with Peyton #2……or Racheal #2 (sorry, I couldn’t narrow it down to one). Good Luck though.

Sorry about this but whatever you do DON’T pick Nathaniel #1. What did you do to the poor boy – stick a pudding bowl on his head and cut round it ?! Somewhere in the archives I think I’ve got a photo of my brother, probably a bit younger, with the same haircut! It’s hilarious.
If I had to pick one I’d say go for Peyton #1. From the marker pens on her hands and down her legs to the water all over her face it just exemplifies kids having fun. So does Rachel #1. It’s a hard task and you’ll get loads of different answers. Haven’t you go any of all 3 of them together? Daft question – you must have loads!
Anyway it’s gone midnight over here – must go to bed. But I’m still laughing about that haircut. He’s such a handsome boy, I’m sure he’ll forgive you one day!

I’d take $500 right about now. I ordered my fall textbooks today which added up to a heafty $600-some. I’m hoping I’m going to somehow remember to remind myself of all the tables I waited on to pay for these books and actually OPEN them and READ them. 🙂

I think it depends on the audience really.
Nathaniel 1 needs to go in the paper for his high school graduation.
Nathaniel 2 is timeless. A boy on the beach with his thoughts.
Peyton 1 looks like she’s on a dock, when in reality, she’s on our old porch. Even though it didn’t erase the marker on her legs, that was the water battle to end all water battles, and the last clear moment I remember before diagnosis.
Peyton 2 shows that cancer cannot stop summer fun.
Rachael 1 just plain screams summer fun with a sprinkler.
Rachael 2 will always make me laugh. What cracks me up even more is when she “tries” to make that face now. She can’t do it if she’s thinking about it. I don’t think there’s anything particularly summer-ish about it though. Just a funny face.
I wish we had one of those with me giving you a fireman carry in the pool! Now THAT would win you the $500.

If it’s winning you’re going for, use the bald Peyton in the water photo. A little sympathy vote might not hurt to stack the deck in your favor!!

My absolute favorite is Rachael #2. It is just such a great picture. But doesn’t really scream “summer”.

It is always hard to choose from children’s photos but I have to go with Peyton #1. I love when kids are looking right into the camera…..you can see their spirit! And the marker all over her shows a bit about her too 🙂
