Oh, the random

5 disturbing things my dryer produced this week:

empty tic tac box

underwear not belonging to any member of this family

a Ziploc baggie of play-doh (which, Ziploc? You got some mad skills for staying closed throughout a full wash and dry cycle. You are my hero!)

some feathers – not sure if the owner of said feathers is going to be making an appearance

no less than 25 dismembered Lego men

I have a friend Natalie.

She has a daughter Alannah.

Alannah has a friend named Kaitlyn.

Nathaniel likes Kaitlyn.

I caught him checking out her butt at the pool.

The sound my brain makes when it explodes?  Ka-Puberty!

Best fortune cookie ever:  You engage in passionate relationships, but do not lose your independence.

I will be announcing the air-date later, but I got to tape a few comments for the Oprah show.  Should be coming on later this month. My 45 seconds of fame, people! Let the basking begin.

********************
Peyton came to me and asked, all indignant, “Do I make the kids to do things for me?”

I answer, “Duh.”

Peyton stalks into the other room and yells, “Rachael! Go tell mom that I DO NOT make you do things for me.”

********************
My sister says very funny things…she does very silly things…I do not have permission to share these things with you…I am bitter….she does not love me, or YOU!

********************

For the most part, I write my posts from the comfort of my living room.  I occasionally take my laptop outside of the house for a change of pace and just to mix things up…but I rarely get much writing done.  I am too much of a people watcher and there is always the inevitability of getting caught up in eavesdropping on some stranger’s drama…cause nothing cries creative muse like “….and then?…AND THEN, you know what SHE said?”…. perhaps its at this point that you lean so far over that your elbow knocks your latte into your lap and it ends up scalding EVERYTHING between your bellybutton and your knees…and because of the outrageous pain, you end up missing what SHE said anyway!

I’m just saying.

********************

I can’t even complain that I “don’t have time to get a shower”.  This week I actually went into my bathroom, turned the shower on and then made the conscious decision to turn it off and go unbathed.  Granted, I was heading to a pool, which is practically a bath anyway, right?  RIGHT??

Mom Blogs

5 Minutes for Moms is running an article I wrote to promote Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and the Cure Kids Cancer Challenge, benefiting the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.  These women are wonderfully generous with their support and this is going to raise awareness of the importance of September!

Special Needs Blog

I joined the writing team over at 5 Minutes For Special Needs, they are amazing and I’m so excited to be a part of this site.  I’ll be posting there on Sunday afternoons. They think I’m smart and funny. Great, the pressure’s on.

Alltop. I don't know how I got there either.

This site made the cut for Alltop…which if you aren’t a blogger, its no big deal…if you are a blogger, you probably made the list way before me so MEH to you! But go there, they list some mighty fine blogs and you never know what you might find there.

Don’t forget to check out our team for the Cure Kids Cancer Challenge on Sept 13. We are miserably short of our goal amount…care to help us make it?   Every amount is appreciated. You can help us fund research to cure pediatric cancers.

And furthermore…do those undies belong to some member of my family? And, I know how hard you looked for that stupid Playdoh. So cannot believe the queen of laundry then washed the holy grail of school supplies.
    Love ya again!

You’re going to be on OPRAH??? How did I miss THAT?? I read your blog every day!! Does this mean she’s actually doing the pediatric cancer show that Caring Bridge moms have been demanding for years? If yes, awesome!!!

I wonder if that means I’ll get any closer with my campaign to get her to do a show on autism??? And before you say she has, she’s done two horrible shows on how dreadful and evil autism is. We’re asking for a show about the many benefits and gifts of autism. So GREAT news the campaign has worked for you guys and 10 million people will learn about the horrifying underfunding children’s cancer research receives!! Hopefully we get there with our autism campaign too!!! 😀

Haha Ka-Puberty! Oh boy… I’m not ready for all that!

I always get really worried when I find any kind of empty candy package in the washer… you know that sucker’s stuck to something you won’t find for a month.

I think the things you found in your dryer are hilarious! (Of course it is also scarily equal to the things I find in mine!!)

I found your site from 5 Minutes for Moms. Love the site and the humor. My 6 yo niece was diagnosed with ALL almost 3 years ago. It was a hard and trying time, but now she is a beautiful, active, and happy girl – loving school, friends, food, and her family. Here’s hoping for continued blessings for your family and your little girl as this journey continues.
