Sydlets are bracelets, necklaces, and earings created by Michelle Sims and her 9 year old daughter Sydney Sims who just happens to have a rare pediatric cancer called Neuroblastoma (Stage IV). All of the jewelry is hand made with Swarovski crystals beads, and have a sterling silver cancer awareness charm on them. The business was started a year ago to raise money for Sydney’s medical fund. It has been very successful and now Sydlets is giving back to the cancer community by donating a portion of the proceeds to various pediatric cancer foundations. Sydlets are not only beautiful pieces of jewelry, but they have a purpose. The purpose; spread awareness concerning pediatric cancer, and eventually finding a cure for all of the beautiful children, like Sydney, who have been afflicted with this horrid disease.

Our friends Samantha Lee and her mom Joanne support the Bravery Hearts program. Sam has ALL Leukemia and beyond that, she has a huge heart and a desire to help others.
“When a child begins their difficult journey with cancer, they are given a necklace with their name on it. As they undergo difficult treatments, such as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, they receive special plastic or wooden beads, called Bravery Heart Beads, to commemorate these milestones.
For example, if they receive chemotherapy, they are awarded a multi-colored bead. If they have a lumbar puncture, they get a fuchsia bead (see enclosed bead legend). The children wear their beads proudly as necklaces or wristbands, or attached to toys, IV poles and sometimes parents.
The necklaces document and honor the experience of their cancer treatments, enabling the children to tell their unique story in a tangible, visual way. They become precious keepsakes that are viewed as medals or badges of courage. There is simply no easy way to describe the symbolic nature and power of the Bravery Hearts Bead program.”
